The NYC Department of Correction Inmate Lookup Service is the main tool for finding people booked in Queens County. Search by name, NYC DOC Book and Case number, or New York State Identification Number (NYSID). The system shows the inmate's current location, case info including court date and charges, booking details, and bail or bond amount. Queens cases use the borough code "QN" in docket numbers.

The DOC lookup only shows people currently in NYC jail custody. It does not cover people who have been released, transferred to state prison, or those still in NYPD custody for 72 hours or less. Recent arrests will not show up until the person is fingerprinted at Central Booking and brought before a judge. If someone was arrested very recently, they may not be in the system yet.

For people who have been transferred to state prison from Queens County, use the NYS DOCCS Incarcerated Lookup. Search by name and birth year or Department Identification Number. The system runs 24 hours a day, except for a short break at 11:45 PM. DOCCS only tracks people in state custody, not city jails.

Queens County Courts and Booking Records

Queens County Criminal Court at 125-01 Queens Boulevard handles all criminal cases from arrest through disposition. Call (718) 298-0792 for case information. The WebCrims system provides free online access to pending criminal cases in Queens. You can search by defendant name, case number, or attorney. The system shows case status, upcoming court dates, charges, and judge assignments.

The Queens County Court Records page offers access to inmate search resources. WebCrims access lets you do free searches for pending cases by name or docket number. This covers criminal courts in all five boroughs, plus district and superior courts in several suburban counties. Queens is a participating court.

Charge abbreviations in the DOC system include POSS for possession, SUBST for substance, CCW for court warrant, and OJCW for other jurisdiction warrant. If a scheduled release date falls on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, the person is generally released early on Friday morning. The DOC system covers all five boroughs, so a Queens arrest may result in housing at any NYC jail facility, including Rikers Island.

Booking records are created when someone is processed at Central Booking. Staff take fingerprints, mugshots, and record personal information and charges. The record includes the person's full legal name, age, custody status, facility location, housing unit, next court date, and docket number. This information is available through the DOC inmate lookup as long as the person is in custody.

Filing a Records Request for Queens County Recent Bookings

For records not available through the online lookup, you can file a FOIL request. In New York City, use the NYC OpenRecords portal to submit requests to the NYPD and other city agencies. Track your request status online. The NYPD FOIL Unit is at 1 Police Plaza, Room 110C, New York, NY 10038. For body-worn camera footage, email FOIL@NYPD.ORG.

When requesting arrest records, include the complete arrest number or name, date of birth, NYSID, date and precinct of arrest, and type of report. Agencies must acknowledge your request within five business days. Complex requests may take longer. If denied, you have 30 days to appeal in writing.

For state-level criminal history, the DCJS Record Review process requires fingerprints. You can only get your own record. DCJS does not release histories to third parties. The Criminal History Record Search from OCA costs $95 and searches all 62 counties. Results come the next business day.
